Cross connection and backflow prevention is a very important aspect of clean drinking water. Usually found on fire sprinklers and an occasional boiler system, this stops toxic fluids from going into everyone's drinking water. These units sit for long periods of time and the springs and\or seals can wear down and fail. They have to be checked every year for satisfactory tensions and operation. We provide easy to make testing appointments with trustworthy technicians. We will even file the paperwork with the local water authority for you and email a copy of the results for your records. Give us a call and we will schedule your appointment today.
Radiant heated floors are an advanced heating system used to create a quiet, even ambient temperature inside your home. Most systems use a boiler fired by natural gas to heat a propylene glycol solution that pumps heated fluid through your tubing installed in floors or in baseboards along your walls. In doing so, your heat is distributed evenly and at the source of the cold air that settles on the floor. This allows for comfortable heat to rise from your feet and can help counter the effects of tall ceilings and typical cold surfaces such as tile or concrete floors. This method also allows for high energy efficiency and quiet operation. No more uneven, loud, and dry forced air blowing dust and allergens through out your home.
Yes it can. Upon initial mechanical room install we can pair an indirect hot water tank to help satisfy all your hot water needs. It is a holding tank with no pilot light so it can sit directly on a floor. Code requires all gas fired units like a standard water heater, have their burner assembly 18" above a garage floor. Say goodbye to those platforms that collect unwanted debris and pests underneath. This holding tank is designed to pump hot radiant fluid from your boiler, through a built in double walled heat exchanger coil that can rapidly heat up the surrounding domestic water in the tank. In addition, the modern controls we use, and our method of piping, we can prioritize hot water. This means, that when everyone comes back from the ski resort or the beach, the boiler will focus solely on hot water demand. As an example, a 75 gallon indirect tank can offer 234 gallons in the first hour of recovery @ 115 degrees. No more taking turns for showers and waiting for the hot water to get back up to temperature. In addition we keep the tank at 140-150 degrees which will kill bacteria such as Legionella maintaining water health. On the outlet side we add a safety device that mixes it down to the desired temperature, typically 115-120 degrees to prevent scalding dangers. See link for details on the standard brand of tanks we install https://www.lochinvar.com/lit/EGD.pdf
Hot water recirculation starts at the rough in application. Through our years of experience, we have successfully designed and tested some of the most effective recirculation loops on the market. We create a loop of hot water throughout your home that will discharge hot water within seconds at nearly all your outlets. Not only does this save water, but the comfort of turning on a hot water faucet and having it appear near immediately is a modern day comfort everyone loves. In order to keep efficiency at a high level, all recirculation lines are insulated and operated by controls that only recirculate hot water at times of high demand, usually using a SMART control that learns your habits. For retro fit there are a few different applications to help you save water and achieve that modern comfort. Give us a call to discuss your options.
Although we are certified in the testing and install of these devices we design our systems to avoid another one of these components. Per local code, we use a double walled indirect tank and an Axiom boiler feed. There are two benefits to this design. First, you avoid the yearly testing of a backflow. Second, the double walled tank gives you the piece of mind that radiant fluid will not contaminate your domestic water supply. Third, the Axiom feed allows you to control the mixture of freeze resistant fluid inside the system. It also lets you know if fluid is being released from the system per a visual check on tank capacity. Usually, a failed expansion tank or a temperature and pressure release valve (T&P) will release fluid to the T&P termination point. In unusual circumstances, the radiant piping can be breached somewhere inside the home. Typically, the Axium feed only holds between 3.5 - 5 gallons and that will be all that is released into the breached area, limiting water damage and costly repairs. This is one more component we believe in to give you the piece of mind if you are away from home for long periods of time. Coupled with modern thermostats like NEST or Honeywell Redlink online thermostats, you will receive an alarm letting you know your house temperature is dropping so you can give us a call and we can rectify the situation before other damage such as freezing domestic water pipes occur.
Through our years of experience we have evolved to create some of the most modern energy efficient systems available. We use the latest in radiant design and piping methods to create efficient, quiet, and comfortable heat distribution. We take pride in our mechanical room installs that allow for easy service and appeal to the eye. With our pride in craftsmanship we strive for not only a quality, highly efficient and effective system, but to grab peoples attention to the central component, critical to comfort in your home.
